Health and Nutrition

As we all know Good nutrition is one of the keys to a healthy Person / Life. People can improve their health by keeping a balanced food / diet. People should eat foods that contain vitamins and minerals in their regular diet. This includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, dairy, and a source of protein. There are more than 40+ different kinds of nutrients in food that we need to take on daily basis and these nutrients are generally classified into 7 major groups like Carbohydrates, Proteins, fats, Vitamins, Minerals, Dietary Fibre and Water.

Malnutrition happens when a person’s diet does not provide enough nutrients or the right balance of nutrients for optimal health. Causes of malnutrition include inappropriate dietary choices, a low income, difficulty obtaining food, and various physical and mental health conditions.

Poor nutrition can impair our daily health and wellbeing and reduce our ability to lead an enjoyable and active life. The unhealthy eating habits can affect our nutrient intake, including energy (or kilojoules) protein, carbohydrates, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals as well as fibre and fluid.

What are the challenges Our NGO faces?

India is the home of largest number of undernourished children in the world. The prevalence of malnutrition in India is extremely high and effecting or taking lives of many. Malnourished children are more susceptible to sickness and missing school, they also find it harder to concentrate and succeed in their studies and also career. Children are not getting the nutrition they need to survive and thrive. This is especially true for the poorest and most vulnerable children. Children from impoverished families often have only one meal a day, which is not enough. At least one in three children under 5 is affected by malnutrition in its most visible forms:

  • Deters brain development
  • Children succumb to diseases and infection
  • Maternal health among girls below 18 years is jeopardized
  • Children struggle with hygiene and lack of sanitation
  • Appalling status of menstrual hygiene among girls
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Tooth Decay
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Heart Disease and Stroke
  • Type-2 Diabetes Osteoporosis
  • Some Cancers
  • Depression &
  • Eating Disorders

Educating Parents Issues:
The biggest challange is that we need to make the parents understand the importance and healthy and nutrition food intake. Because of poverty and lack of education, they don’t give importance at all towards health and nourished food provision for their Children.

Financial Issues:
We need to take care of the malnourished children at the best manner continuously otherwise there will be risk of their life. As we have increase of admissions of Children in this malnutrition section we have to expand our budget. We are trying our level best to keep the admitted children or people every day.
